Serious Prison Time for Violent and Drug-Related Crimes

Various prison sentences were given on Friday related to a incident of deprivation of liberty occurred in May in Järvenpää.

A group of men forced a couple walking on the street into a car at knifepoint early in the morning. While in the car, the gang members held the couple in chokeholds and threatened them with a knife, demanding money. The ordeal continued at the couple’s home, where the assailants confined them to a bedroom while they stole two computers, passports, and driver's licenses.

The perpetrators also attempted to coerce the male victim into securing a €10,000 payday loan, but the request was denied. The gang left the residence around 4 a.m., at which point the victims were able to seek help from a neighbor.

Total of 4 men were convicted of aggravated deprivation of liberty and aggravated robbery. A Sudanese man, 20, received a four-year prison sentence, other sentences were ten years, five years and four months, and eight years.
