G2 vs. mousesports Match Disrupted at Counter-Strike 2's PGL Major in Copenhagen

On Friday, a match between G2 and mousesports at Counter-Strike 2's PGL Major in Copenhagen was abruptly interrupted when protestors stormed the stage. The disruption occurred as G2 Esports led 7-5 on the map Vertigo. Although the stream did not capture how the protestors accessed the stage, boos from the audience were audible. Shortly thereafter, the game was temporarily paused.

CSGOEmpire, a Counter-Strike skin gambling site, quickly claimed responsibility for the protest. On the platform X, CSGOEmpire accused G2 of maintaining a partnership with CSGORoll, which they labeled a "scam casino."

CSGORoll, a fraudulent Counter-Strike skin gambling site, had partnered with G2 Esports in May 2023.

In a recent post, CSGOEmpire exposed HypeDrop’s reward system as a scam. HypeDrop is another fraudulent online casino founded by the CSGORoll owner. Users were encouraged to wager large sums to earn "daily tiles," a system promising to recoup their losses over time.

The site marketed this system as an investment opportunity, attracting substantial revenue for HypeDrop by promising returns to those who wagered. This led to entire communities forming around HypeDrop investing, with users calculating returns on investment, selling accounts, and often losing money to maximize their returns.

Two days ago, HypeDrop announced its shutdown, resulting in community members losing their progress and invested money. CSGOEmpire alleged that the owner "disabled their daily tiles and refused to pay out rewards," revealing the scheme as a ponzi operation.

Believing that CSGORoll employed the same model as HypeDrop, CSGOEmpire decided to protest during the G2 Esports match. They called on G2 to cease promoting "scam casinos" immediately, especially those involved in ponzi schemes and theft of user balances.

The match resumed quickly after PGL Esports confirmed that the "individuals involved were removed by the police," although the PGL Major trophy was reportedly damaged in the commotion.

Despite the disruption, G2 Esports triumphed over mousesports by winning the first two maps, Inferno and Vertigo, and advanced to the semifinals to face Natus Vincere.
